Description

This dataset contains 120 anthropometric measurements and age information for 263 Republic of Korea Air Force (ROKAF) pilots surveyed in 1960. The study was designed to parallel the 1950 U.S. Air Force Survey of Flying Personnel, providing comparable body measurement data for military aviation research and equipment design. Measurements cover standing and seated body dimensions, reach, body breadths and depths, circumferences, limb dimensions, and detailed measurements of the head, face, hands, and feet. Historical Background The survey findings were published in 1961 in Anthropometry of ROKAF Pilots by Won Choel Kay, in the Journal of Aviation Medicine, Republic of Korea Air Force, 9(1):61–113. The original data were transferred from the Korean Air Force to Charles Clauser at the Aerospace Medical Research Laboratory (AMRL) in 1964. Subsequent data editing was completed by Webb Associates and University of Dayton personnel.
